Suggestion

hello my name is Vicky and i have some suggestions to make our school a greener place. my first suggestion is to have 3 types of bins around our school the first sort of bin we need is a waste paper bin the second a glass and can bin and the third a bin for nonrecyclable rubbish. another of one of my suggestions is that in some lessons the teacher gives out to many non inportant peices of paper for paper that is not inportant the information from it should be put onto the board and for only the most inportand information to be on paper or even ot be coppied down from the board if is short.thank-you vicky 8B

I dont think we should have as many worksheets in lessons such as RE and History that are just startes because all the paper goes into the bin, and since we don't have recyle bins in each classroom, it all goes to waste.

The school could be more environmentally friendly by not printing any sheets off for any subject but all the work should be saved on computers for example: 'moodle' and this is where the teachers will also mark it.

homework should be done on computers and sent to the teacher it is for and that teacher could open it up and use the activ studio whiteboard to mark it, then save the changes and resend it to the owner of the work and they can make changes or take in your feedback. This will save paper as work is not getting printed out loads of times and in this method no paper is wasted and no harm is done to the environment.

many teachers use paper to print out individual sheets for students to fill in with an avergae of 28 people per class it builds up paper wastage when most student dotn glue in sheets and they get lost and end up in the bin.
so instead we could use our school technology of electric white boards as not many schools have them so we could use them instead of paper Mark Watson

woooooo...i think we should use less water bottles in the canteen or something to do with the cans and plastic that gets chucked away. Like a recycle bin n you get a prize or summet for recycling....i'm a genius, i know...just kidding

I agree with your ideas and to reduce the amount of paper we use in school we could set something up with our teachers so ALL our draft pieces of work are uploaded on to moodle instead of printing it out againand again. We can access moodle from home so it is a really good way to get work in to our teachers. We don't need to actually print until the final draft, and even when we do make sure you use paper that has been RECYCLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with vicky on the 3 bins idea. also another idea we can do is to shut all computers at the end of the day by the mains to save energy. we can also the reduce the amount of energy used by use energy efficient lights.

The school should use energy efficient monitors. If school scrapped all the CRT monitors and changed to TFT flat screen we could save money and be more energy efficient this will also make the school look jazzier.

i think that too make the school more green
we should :
- recycle more
and encourage stundents and adults too do so .

- makesure people turn all computers/lights off after using them in order too save electricity

- dont use the air con as much , especially in winter - as some teachers seem too have it on really high all year round !!
- same with heating !

I think that we shouldn't have so many worksheets for starters because they all go in the bin, and seen as we do not have recycle bins, it goes to waste. We should just use the computer board instead.

i think that our school wastes way too muh. I think t hat we should do our work for lessons on recycled paper, instead of using books because sometimes, we hardly ever use our excercise books. Another suggestion that is have is don't print drafts off of work such as the coursework we are doing in ICT. I also think that we should not throw so much away because in the bins, i sometimes see lots of blank and new paper so i think that we should go have a paper bin in each classroom because that thing that you are meant to put paper in the foyer is too far away.

Hello I'm Zoe

I think the school could carry on with the moodle situation where students can upload their work for teaching staff to mark. I also think we could have more IT based activities so that worksheets handed out could just be put on the L drive for us all to use instead of wasting paper that goes in the bin anyway.

A way we could help save the enviroments is by:

Create a folder on the L./ Drive for printouts. And every person who wants to print something out has to put it into that file and get it realesed by a teacher, after been checked. If it does not need to be prinited out you will be charged 10p per sheet for attempting. This sounds like a pain but it would work.

I suggest that we get movement sensetive lights in the bathrooms and other rooms so that they only turn on when there are people in them so they dont get left on if someone forgets. KJ

I think that we could use a lot less energy in school, some ways of doing this coulod be:
-don't use the heating in summer.
-don't use the air conditioning in winter.
-make sure people turn the computer of fully when they are not in use.

We could make our school greener by not using so much paper and when we are set homework we should all have do do it on the computer and send it to the teachers also we could not give handouts in lesson you could have one big document on the interactive whiteboard and then everyone look at that. We could have recycle people so that in the pds sessions on friday poeple can go round and collect the paper from the recycling boxes.

I suggest that each form has a box of recycling. At the end of each term the amount of things in each box is counted. The form who wins is the form who has recycled the most. They are then rewarded. HK

I think the best thing that we can do is stard to buy recyced paper you can buy them everywhere and also another great Idea is to introduce a school bus this will save loads of parents taking kids to school but in the long run people wont have to go in the car helping to save the enviroment.
