Suggestions and Ideas
Please post all of your suggestion and ideas for helping to make the school a more enviromentally responsible place.
The eco's council is a brilliant idea that allows people to get involved in improving the school environementally. I feel that if we all work together we could achieve so much and reform the school so that it is eco friendly. However i do feel the Eco's council is concerning themselves with issue that do not matter, for example double sided printing??????? We should be focussing on changing people's views on green schools and purchase equipment like solar panels that can provide our school with energy. Finally we should switch of our lights!!!!!!!!
i think to get this thing moving we all need to push it down a steep hill, lol o.j. but i really think that we need to get the message around the school, first starting with the younger member of the school.
Alot of the time has been colleting data and setting targets. This is a grea way to start as we can now bac up our feeling and ideas with concrete data. By now, I feel that we need to act and make the school aware of the situation as it is all our responsibiliy not just a councils.
Looks like there is some excellent work being done here Y11 - I'm impressed. Looking forward to hearing all about ecoschools at the whole school council meeting on Thursday.
we could also, one or more days a week, not have any food served in the canteen, reducing waste vastly. this would also help fight the problem of childhood obesity.
We should have paper recycle bins near lockers because many people throw paper out of their lockers and just throw them in a normal bin when they could easily be recycled. There should also be bins outside school so 6th formers can throw their rubbish in the bins from lunch.
Mr Davies, as always I am impressed massively by Dixons Students and your committment and hard work. Just to let you know a few things the RE Department are doing to help, trying some paper free days, sheets one between two where possible, scrap paper draw in F20 for people to reuse bits of paper and Y11 mock feedback was printed two to a sheet rather than the traditional one to a sheet as in previous years. Once again well done Y11 and keep up the good work!

I think we should concentrate on reducing poloution as this can cause many ilnesses and also makes it harder for people with breathing dificulties.

I think that the school should have specific days where energy is focused on and it can be saved wherever possible around school.
